What is a fascia and soffit?
The soffit board is tucked away under the fascia board. It is usually the board that you see most of from street level. The soffit can be ventilated to allow the flow of air into the roof area. Alternatively, ventilation can be provided over the top of the fascia board.
Why Fascia & Soffit are Important?
Soffits and fascia are trim, flashing, or covers, for the eaves section of your roof. They protect the roof and walls from moisture and animals. Gutters, fascia, and drip edges work together to deflect water from your roof to the ground without damaging the roof or walls of your home.
What color should soffits and fascia be?
Color. White is standard for soffit and fascia, but you can buy them in a variety of colors. You should choose colors that will complement your siding and your home's overall look. Therefore, if you have navy blue siding, bright white soffit may not be the best choice
Is a soffit necessary?
While soffit comes in wood and aluminum, they are most commonly made of vinyl for durability. Soffit can be non-vented or vented to allow for maximum roof ventilation. Non-vented or continuous soffit works best when your roof has narrow eaves or if you need to ventilate a large amount of attic space.
